Its purple blade is achieved by using blue LEDs and a pink plastic light diffuser inside a foam core) The stock "blade" of the Master Replicas lightsaber has a string of LEDs inside a polycarbonate tube. Those LEDs are soldered to a circuit board, which in turn is wired to the electronics inside the hilt. When the blade of the lightsaber comes into contact with another hardened object (dueling or accidental drop) the solder joints that connect the LED to the circuit board inside the blade can and will break. This results in the LED failing to light when you power on your lightsaber. Once the LEDs are broken, your blade no longer has that uniform glow! The Force FX blade is constructed of several materials: Polycarbonate tube (blade) Plastic light diffuser (white part you see just inside the blade) Foam insert (light diffusion & LED protection) Hardened plastic sleeve (only on Mace Windu ForceFX) LED string So what makes an Ultra FX different from a regular Force FX? 1. The very first thing we do is take out the LED string! No more circuit board = no more dark spots in your blade! 2. We then install a high powered Luxeon III LED into the hilt. Light source in hilt = safe from the impacts the blade receives! 3. After that, we make sure the LED is powered and cooled adequately.Approximately 10,000 hours of operation from a single LED! 4. Finally, we remove all those layers inside the blade.and install our exclusive blade film and mirrored blade tip!Less obstructions inside the blade = brighter blade! 5. After the saber is converted, you also have the ability to remove the blade and wear the hilt as a prop! Q: Will my blade keep its grow/retract effect?A: Since there are no longer LEDs in the blade, it will no longer have that same visual effect. Q: Can I remove the blade once it's converted?A: Yes you can remove the blade. We install a small headless hex screw in the emitter that you can loosen to slide the blade out. Q: What if my blade is severely damaged or missing completely?A: Part of the conversion is replacing the blade, so that should not be a problem. Q: What if my sound board doesn't work correctly?A: We can still convert your saber; however, we cannot fix the FX board. At worse case scenario, we would completely bypass the board. So please understand this before you send your saber to us and expect miracles! Q: What sabers can you convert?A: We can convert any Master Replicas Force FX sabers newer than 2005. If it's older than that, sorry, we cannot help you. Q: What if I have a saber that's not a MRFX?
